Industrial Designer / Industrial Design EngineerBirmingham (B9) £35000 - £42000Reed Specialist Recruitment is hiring an Industrial Designer on behalf of a client in the B9 area of Birmingham.Job Title: Industrial Designer Location: B9 area, Birmingham Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (or £38,000 - £42,000 with supervisory responsibility)Join an dynamic and innovative team in the electric mobility, consumer electronics and EV sector as an Industrial Designer.In this role, you will play a key role in leading the conceptualization and design of new products, understanding market trends and user preferences, and developing sketches and 3D models to communicate design concepts effectively.You will work in a team alongside mechanical and electrical designers, taking a user-centric approach and understanding prototyping processes and the use of innovative materials and technologies to develop an effective product range.Responsibilities:

  • Lead the conceptualization and design of new products that align with market trends and user preferences.
  • Develop sketches, renderings, and 3D models to communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Conduct user research to understand the unique needs and preferences of product users.
  • Integrate user feedback into the design process to enhance the overall user experience.
  • Stay abreast of the latest materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes relevant to product design.
  • Explore and incorporate sustainable and eco-friendly design solutions.
  • Create prototypes for design validation, focusing on factors such as ergonomics, durability, and safety.
  • Iterate designs based on testing feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and marketing teams to ensure seamless integration of design concepts into the final product.
  • Communicate design ideas effectively and contribute to cross-functional discussions.
  • Stay informed about relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements for product design.
The role itself will be part of a growing international business with a presence in Germany and China and responsible for developing businesses activities within the UK.
