Job Description

Your new roleIf youre looking for a role in HR, National Highways are recruiting for a HR Advisor to join our team in Birmingham. This is a fast-paced role which is both exciting and challenging where youll provide advice and guidance to employees and managers in ourPolicy and Guidance team. Youll join a large, energetic team who are constantly striving to improve our customer service through providing accurate first-line HR support.National Highways has thousands of employees across the country, which means we have a whole range of HR queries coming in to the team to respond to and support on.What youll be leading onWere looking for a self-motivated individual that strives for success in meeting deadlines and targets.Provide first line advice to managers and employees within a fast-paced shared services teamAnswering incoming HR calls and making outbound calls to resolve queries and support managers/employees.Understand and be able to communicate HR policies, processes, and procedures to employees and managersSupport managers on sickness absence cases up to 3 monthsWork with the Employee Relations team on complex HR queriesCollate and monitor feedback, exceptions and trends through queries to suggest amendments and process improvements as requiredPolicy review updatesWorking to tight deadlines and within service level agreementsTransactional changes such as processing Flexible Working Applications, Maternity Leave, Leavers and Partial RetirementsWorking collaboratively with own team and across other HR functionsTo be successfulExperience of working in a customer focused environmentHR experience preferable but not a necessity as we provide great training on the jobExcellent telephone manner and communication skillsProven ability to demonstrate good organisation and problem-solving skillsProven ability to liaise effectively with colleagues, work independently and demonstrate good communication skillsExperience of using computer systems including Microsoft systemsPrevious experience of responding to HR policy queries in a similar role is desirableSelf motivated with great attention to detail and a right first time attitudeA bit about usOur role in Human Resources is to support, develop and nurture our people so that we can all achieve our full potential.
