Job Description

My client, are an award winning, independent commercial bank, based in Birmingham. An opportunity has arisen to join their Financial Crime team as a "High Risk Officer".Purpose of the roleWorking as part of the Commercial Banking team, take responsibility for portfolio management of commercial High Risk Customers including maintenance and regular review of all High Risk Customers including Political Exposed Persons (PEPs), Customer Dormancy,Fraud reporting and Customer Data Management. Proactive in mitigating risk through a proactive planned programme of activity management observing all Anti Money Laundering / Anti Bribery & Corruption / Fraud and regulatory requirements. Take responsibilityfor all other high value customer activities as required within Customer Service Operations in line with Bank procedures and safeguarding the Bank against financial loss.Responsibilities

  • Undertake all customer related high value/risk transactional activity, including PEP reviews (both annual PEP reviews and PEP reviews at onboarding).
  • Establish High Risk Customer Programme review and ongoing maintenance process.
  • Establish robust dormancy review process incorporating proactive customer contact endorsing active management of value driven customer relationship.
  • Ensure risk controls are met at all times, safeguarding the Bank from losses and reporting all suspicious activity as appropriate. Undertake customer due diligence, vigilance and active consideration of all transactional activity mitigating the risk ofmoney laundering and fraudulent activities.
  • Ensure all amendments to customer records are properly supported by authentic instructions and in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
  • Support the wider Bank team on projects as required. Attending team meetings and contributing to the wider team effort. Contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of Operations by reviewing existing processes and procedures and proposing improvementswhich enhance service, deliver cost savings and / or mitigate risk.
  • Ensure that the prospect fully understands the documentary and information requirements needed from them to efficiently proceed with the account opening process in line with regulatory requirements.
  • To fully understand and act as a subject matter expert for all customer screening and fraud prevention activity including CIFAS / Equifax/ Dow Jones systems and processes.
  • Support ongoing specialist knowledge sharing and education within the wider Customer Operations Team, highlighting development needs and coaching needs to line manager. As an SME in High Risk Customer management, be proactive in undertaking any remedialaction required to address any performance shortfalls through liaison with line and functional management

  • Banking qualifications (Desirable)
Knowledge requirements
  • Operational knowledge of bank processes and key regulatory/legal issues (Essential)
  • Banking technology, payment systems and processes, telephony etc (Essential)
  • Numeracy (Essential)
  • Knowledge of Dow Jones/ CIFAS/Equifax systems, Anti Money Laundering regulations, Anti Bribery & Corruption regulations, PEP regulatory requirements, Customer Data capture requirements.
