Job Description

Health & Safety Manager£50,000 + £5,000 Car AllowanceWe are seeking a Health & Safety Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for advising directors, and managers on all safety, health, and welfare matters to ensure the companys compliance with statutory obligations.The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of CDM regulations & Electrical procedures.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice to management on safety, health, and welfare matters, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.
  • Stay informed about changes in legislation, attend external courses/seminars, and interpret new regulations for implementation within the organisation.
  • Conduct and review all required assessments as per legislation, maintaining accurate records.
  • Conduct health and safety inspections, prepare detailed reports for all company operations, and conduct investigations into accidents and near-miss incidents.
  • Identify areas for training and certification to meet legislative standards, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance.
  • Immediately escalate situations requiring immediate rectification or the stopping of any operation to the managing director.
  • Attend client seminars, health and safety meetings, and other relevant events as requested.
  • Manage all facility annual and bi-annual inspections and maintenance inspections within the premises.
  • Produce site/project-specific documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments, and construction phase plans.
  • Develop and maintain the Health and Safety Management System to ISO standards 14001 and 45001, ensuring successful accreditation renewal annually.
  • Keep all company and client accreditation schemes (e.g., AVETTA, CHAS, Safe Contractor) updated and ensure successful renewal.
  • Manage the environmental aspect of the business to ISO14001 standards, including the annual Carbon Footprint process and waste management.
  • Conduct monthly Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) meetings, produce monthly company H&S Alerts, and communicate them company-wide.
  • Produce training materials and conduct training for operatives, including sub-contractors, as required by the company, or arising health and safety issues.
  • Update all Health and Safety policies, guidance notes, and manage the skills matrix, sending out monthly updates.
  • Attend site meetings and conduct desktop audits on the skills of sub-contractors, site managers, and project folder structures on SharePoint.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Relevant qualifications in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH & IOSH).
  • City & Guilds Electrical qualification.
  • Carbon Management.
  • First Aid & Fire officer training.
