Job Description

Job Title: Head of Student Systems and RecordsContract: start date ASAPHybrid working: Birmingham and remote workingOverview:Leading the Student Systems Team, responsible for critical university processes such as enrolment, module selection, awards, and regulatory reporting. Manage the Student Information System (SITS) and other core student systems. Direct the development anddelivery of Student Lifecycle applications, ensuring alignment with academic processes and regulations.Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee student records on multiple systems, including the creation, deployment, and maintenance of reports.
  • Provide direction for online and in-person training, ensuring staff are well-equipped for their roles.
  • Implement a strategy for systems training, aligning with academic calendar and improving end-user experience.
  • Maintain high standards of student records, reviewing data quality and accuracy, collaborating with faculties and professional services groups.
  • Lead the implementation of the development and enhancement plan for student record systems, ensuring timely and budgeted project delivery.
  • Advise on and oversee system integration and data exports/imports, ensuring overall system integrity and performance.
  • Manage a team, overseeing recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and deliver a work plan and delivery roadmap for developments, such as training and reports.
  • Hold key accountability for student systems reporting, records, training, and the student lifecycle, ensuring alignment with other professional services teams.
  • Ensure effective communication, consultation, feedback, and training processes are in place for faculties, professional services teams, and student representatives.
  • Identify and address additional service requirements, coordinating innovative solutions to maximize service quality and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the digital infrastructure within the roles remit and act as a Senior Business Lead as required.
  • Regularly review team performance, assess services, and disseminate examples of good practice.
  • Provide comprehensive professional advice within the area of expertise to colleagues and contribute to relevant projects.
  • Contribute to university policy development through participation in working groups and consultations.
  • Represent DSaAS in internal and external networks as needed.
