Job Description

Our client is a leading industry specialist supplier of high-quality ceramic tiles and adhesives operating across 85 UK-wide branches and 5 trading distribution hubs, servicing a commercial and residential customer base.A Head of Strategic Purchasing is required to join the business as it grows, in a key role which will be responsible for the development and delivery of strategic sourcing projects, cost reduction initiatives and supplier improvement projects.Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with key category stakeholders and suppliers to develop sourcing strategies to drive savings and value to the company.
  • Building & managing the end to end Procurement process, including tender build, tender evaluation, recommendation and award.
  • Responsible for monitoring and managing supplier performance with respect to cost, quality, delivery timeliness, etc.
  • Identifying and driving continuous improvement initiatives that will generate value through increase supplier performance or capabilities.
Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience within Procurement / Sourcing and demonstrated experience of developing a Procurement function, driving strategic improvements and savings.
  • Experience of working with direct product supply categories is essential.
  • Professional certification (CPM, CIPS (level 4 and above), EIPM) and/or MBA are highly desirable.
  • Experience of working within a Strategic Sourcing Environment and category management process.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, experienced in communicating with a diverse audience.
  • Results oriented.
  • Possess significant analytical problem-solving ability.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of the fundamental drivers of improvements across a variety of business areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to define a strategy and translate it into actionable plans and then manage these plans through to implementation.
