Job Description

Head of Readiness & Organisation CapabilityInterim - daily rate £650 - 750 a day (inside IR35) Birmingham/Home working (Hybrid)

  • Are you an experience OD/Change/Programme and/or Project Manager
  • Do you have experience of managing the methodology, mechanisms and governance of organisational development teams and projects
  • Have you worked for large complex organisations with multi-million value projects under your control
If so, our client may be interested in speaking to you.The role -The Head of Readiness & Org Capability reports directly to the Organisational Development (OD) Director and is responsible for advising the portfolio of Transformation programmes at the organisation. This includes shaping the overall Transformation strategyand advising elements of the planning, scoping and delivery of programmes across the organisation.Duties -
  • Overseeing the portfolio of change programmes and supporting the Executive Leadership Team to help control and prioritise decisions on transformation activities.
  • Aligning the transformation plan with the overall corporate plan and deliverables.
  • Supporting the implementation and management of the programme transition states through the management of Readiness programmes and associated governance.
  • Establish and manage governance and control around transformation and change execution, driving decisions forward by establishing and managing relevant forums/Design Authorities and processes for escalating risk, managing dependencies and conflicts, enablingsuccessful delivery of projects and programmes.
  • Anticipating programme needs based on a strong understanding of organisation transformation and business change, assessing business readiness for change and supporting effective transformational change delivery through portfolio management.
  • Provide the strategy and direction for Transformation, as Business Change and Transformation capability owner.
  • As Transformation capability lead for the organisation, remaining up to date with best practice methodologies and insights and using these to continually improve Transformation delivery across the business.
  • Lead the Transformation teams effective analysis of data, setting out KPIs, dashboards and insight across the portfolio for escalation to Executive and Board level.
  • Working collaboratively across the organisation with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with corporate governance and business priorities.
  • Leading on the delivery of the Enterprise Capability programme at the organisation on behalf of the HR Director (Programme Sponsor).
  • Holding functional workstream Leads across the business to account for delivering their Enterprise Capability objectives.
  • Developing and leading relationships with key stakeholders including the Executive team, Senior Leadership Team, and wider Government stakeholders to maintain high levels of transparency and cooperation for the benefit of all the stakeholders and organisationsinvolved.
  • Accountable for tracking escalation points, key milestones, and time, cost quality, risks and safety targets to ensure objectives are achieved in line with the overall readiness programme plan and management information and reporting to relevant governancefora.
  • Responsible for influencing a range of staff across the company at all levels to ensure that the core activities and priorities of the enterprise capability programme are fully and effectively supported and are being delivered.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

  • Leadership skills - including managing teams and work-streams in a matrix environment Influencing and negotiation skills - including the ability to engage, influence and negotiate with senior colleagues and Government stakeholders.
  • Programme Management Skills - including managing work-streams and collaborating with peers and senior leadership teams to deliver across the entire organisation, outside of the formal hierarchy.
  • Understanding of a complex multi-faceted business operation
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, best practice and tools (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, APMP etc.)
  • Knowledge of project management and programme inputs including internal reviews, audits, detailed plans and risk/issues registers.
  • Experience of establishing and managing systems and processes to enable and support achievement of business goals, and demanding targets/objectives.
  • Experience of delivering projects with multiple work-streams to time, cost and quality requirements
  • Experience of engaging with and reporting to executive and senior stakeholders both internal and external
  • Experience of managing project and team budgets
