Job Description

Head of Operations (Insulated Panels - Construction Manufacturing)£70,000 - £80,000 + BonusesB24 Birmingham(This role can be worked Hybrid)We EXCLUSIVELY have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Operations to join a dynamic and innovative team with our global construction and manufacturing client. This is a BRAND-NEW ROLE to the business.In your new role as Head of Operations, your main focus will be to develop client and contractor relationships whilst managing contractual risk on commercial roof and solar projects within UK & Ireland. Your role will involve the development and deployment of commercial roof and solar PV projects from the point of initial feasibility through to successful completion on site - having overall responsibility for the quality of the delivered projects.Your Main Duties and Responsibilities*Make a positive contribution to the Management team to enable product improvement, increased turnover and profitability whilst operating within the budgeted costs. *Support the Area Sales Managers and Specification teams to develop a commercial route to market for the service offering. *Train and support commercial teams to develop funded projects to Heads of Terms (HOTs) sale for the UK & IRL as a priority, other markets as and when necessary *Ensure that information accuracy and efficient flow to and from departments is monitored and improved. *Ensure that the commercial team have conducted the appropriate customer due diligence before proceeding to with development works. *Manage all aspects of the project development process to the point of handover to the customer and or PAC to the O&M Management team. *Assess project feasibility, to include the management of and scheduling of specialist consultants including but not limited to Structural Engineers, Electrical Contractors, Roof Condition Surveyors, Roofing Contractors, H&S Specialists, Asbestos Surveyorsand Access & Egress providers to ascertain actual base project costs and commercial opportunity. *To liaise closely with the internal contracts and customer service teams to ensure all projects are delivered within programme, budget and quality. *To work with the internal commercial teams to monitor project cost to recommend ways in which this can be improved. *Create and manage a Contract / Project delivery team to successfully deliver both new build and refurbishment solar and roof upgrade projects in the UK & IRL initially, other markets. *Establish robust subcontracting supply chains in both the UK & IRL markets to enable the effective delivery of multiple large-scale refurbishment and solar installations. *Manage the clients and subcontractors request for Information and manage expenditure control on a project and portfolio basis. *Coordinate with the Client, sub-contractors and equipment vendors to ensure adherence to and compliance with contract terms and delivery of contractual deliverables and project viability. *Implement and manage an effective digital QA / QC process for all contractors to record the ongoing works, quality and snagging records. *Oversee and collaborate with the internal design team to manage the timely approval for external parties like public authorities, grid operators and others. *Design team responsibility and for approvals. *Establish a competent, professional Project /Contract Management team and oversee all aspects of their work. *Liaise with the nominated Legal Counsel on contract queries and contract negotiations. *Ensure that projects are built to best in class 3rd party funder specification to ensure a smooth Technical Due Diligence handover for funded schemes. *Manage Energy stock usage to reduce costs and stock turnaround is optimum. *Present project budgets for approval / effective costing / for approval *Obtain subcontractors quotations and manager scope and 3rd party questions. *Manage, oversee and approve all Quotations issued for business unit projects. *Manage and lead the ongoing updates of product and supply chain pricing and the distribution of same across the business. *Provide Weekly Highlight Reports and Monthly Portfolio Budget and Profitability reports to customersYour Experience and Skills*Experience in similar operational management role is essential *Experience of our industry having worked either in contracting business, preferably roofing and cladding or with a main contractor/subcontractor who has worked with our products. *Creating multi-portfolio, multi-customer programmes for operational delivery of the projects across UK and Ireland. *Ability to liaise with the operations team to o including string obtain designs, ballast calculations, PVSyst reports, *Establish detailed design standards for all our projects and customer requirements. *Draft project documentation for distribution to customers. *Planning, Building and DNO applications as and when required.As our successful candidate you will possess the following skills and experience*Degree in Building, Civil or Electrical Engineering required. *3-5 Years experience in a similar Operational role in the solar or roofing and cladding industry. *Very good understanding of CDM2015. *Strong understanding of construction contracts and risk management. *SMSTS, IOSH and/or NEBOSH
