Job Description

Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) is a dynamic venue, which offers a wide range of free exhibitions, theatre, music, independent cinema and live performances as well as creative learning and participation activities. Well-loved and well used, its a friendlyplace attracting a diverse mix of visitors. Our work also extends across the city to community settings inspiring new audiences to experience high-quality art experiences.We are recruiting for a Head of IT to lead on the digital and IT strategy at the centre. The post holder will ensure the business-critical systems are fit for purpose, troubleshooting where necessary and focusing on future proofing in a fast-moving digitalenvironment.Key Responsibilities Ensure MACs Wi-Fi Network Infrastructure is robust and fit for purpose. Responsible for the development and implementation of Cyber Security, including both technology and user training. maintaining and improving systems such as firewalls to counter infrastructure threats. Project management of IT and network improvements. Develop, manage and monitor all budgets for areas within your responsibilities. Provide effective IT resources as required for MACs arts programme. Create and monitor IT procedure for MAC staff, customers, artists and visiting companies. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation e.g., data protection, storage of data and PCI compliance. Ensure that all data is protected and backed up in liaison with the current external support organisations. Manage the Media Studio network ensuring equipment is maintained and ready for the programmed courses and events. Assist with the training and maintenance of other software used in the organisation such as Exchequer Accounting, Yesplan booking system, IT ticket reporting system and Point of Sale software. Liaise with our external IT support providers and specialist software support companies to identify, prioritise, and resolve all reported problems with systems, hardware/software and/or network problems, including ticketing system hardware, in a timely andprofessional manner. identify and supply IT services required to support new digital initiatives and cloud based technology. Liaise with our external communications providers to resolve any issues with Internet and voice communications. Manage the site telecoms infrastructure including VoIP and call logging management software. Develop, review, monitor and report key service level agreements with performance metrics for each of the functions under your responsibility. Establish renewal & replacement needs for equipment and stock. Oversee the department in the setting up of all user accounts and provide training for all staff and new starters. Contactable out of hours to liaise with the support company and MAC staff to cover emergencies and technical issues. Recruit, manage and support staff working in the IT Department. Ensure effective communication between the department and the rest of the arts centre. Ensure financial procedures are followed.Weekend and/or evening work may be required on occasion.Qualifications Excellent IT skills essential. Excellent understanding of standard word processing, databases and spreadsheets is essential. Qualification in IT/computing is essential. Or relevant experience.Previous Experience Experience with IT back office/systems administration. Experience and knowledge in IT equipment. Extensive experience & sound knowledge of IT technical management. Experience Managing External IT Support Companies. Knowledge of software licencing and procurement. Strong management skills with experience of managing direct and reporting. Strong project management skills and experience. Budget management experience. Understanding of principles and practice of Equality of Opportunity and reflecting and celebrating diversity in employment and service delivery.Excellent knowledge and experience of the following is essential: Microsoft Server operating systems. Microsoft Windows Desktop operating systems. Active directory. Group policies. Office 365. Virtualization (Hyper-V). Microsoft SQL Server. IP networking and technologies including DNS, DHCP. Knowledge of IP Firewall concepts and VLAN technologies would be desirable. Cisco LAN and VLAN technologies. Data security and protection experience. VoIP Phone Systems. Experience Managing Site Wide Wi-Fi (Ideally Aruba).DesirableA knowledge of the following: Venue ticketing software. Point of Sale software. HR And Finance Systems. Live Streaming. Digital Signage.
