Job Description

Head of Generation Innovation Power Generation SectorTo c£80k + bonus + car allowance + generous benefits** Able to be based anywhere in England **Our client is recognised globally as one of the largest power generation and suppliers in Europe and employs more than 25,000 staff worldwide, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced Head of Generation Innovation to focus on identifying new products and services with thermal power plant capabilities within the electricity market and complement their established and professional team and asset portfolio.With a focus towards generation related products and services such as the hydrogen economy and ancillary services, the successful candidate will essentially demonstrate an excellent understanding of thermal power plant capabilities and the electricity market including future trends and will possess proven extensive experience of power plant operation, development of new build and construction projects within the power generation, or similar process industry sectors, along with a solid understanding of the role of government, regulators and system operators in the UK power market.Reporting to the Head of Business Development, the successful Head of Generation Innovation candidate can be based anywhere in England and will be tasked with:

  • The identification of power generation or related opportunities from new products, market initiatives or customer requirements
  • Representing the organisation at industry conferences and relevant events to influence key stakeholders to benefit the organisation
  • Undertaking the technical evaluation of all new opportunities to determine whether existing assets can deliver the required service or require modification, and engaging with 3rd parties to provide expert advice, as needed in order to determine if new build projects could deliver value from the identified opportunities
  • Working with the corporate finance team to create accurate financial models and determine effective bidding strategies, and as part of the tender team as required, you will also create specifications for development work packages and identify the most appropriate consultant to deliver works, whilst also delivering best value to the business.
  • You will develop relationships with equipment suppliers to establish whether new plant or equipment could be used to deliver novel power related services, and will both implement and control appropriate risk management systems for the projects under control in order to ensure that all risks are mitigated to meet business expectations.
