Job Description

Closing Date: 15/10/2021Birmingham 2022 is looking for a Fire Safety Advisor to take the lead on the planning, coordinating and monitoring the delivery of all aspects of Fire safety for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. The successful candidate will provide fire safety advice to all venues and functions, develop the Organising Committees overarching fire strategy and venue fire plans and also conduct fire risk assessments at games time, ensuring all aspects of the venuesand games comply with current fire safety regulations.Responsibilities

  • Develop the Organising Committees Fire Safety Policies and Fire Safety Plans, in accordance with PAS7
  • Develop Games Time Fire Risk Assessments for Games venues, in relation to operational risk management, overlay and temporary infrastructure, in accordance with PAS79
  • Lead on and deliver a range of fire safety assurance activities designed to support coordination, planning and monitoring of Fire Safety, including general advice, inspections, investigations and liaison with statutory authorities and other stakeholders
  • Provide the key link between VDO, Venue Management, Event Services and Security operations regarding Fire Safety
  • Support and where required deliver training and instruction in relation to Fire Safety roles and responsibilities to functional areas as required
  • Coordinate and manage the Games Time Fire Marshal teams
  • Manage, where required, key support staff to support the implementation of fire safety plans
  • Monitor the implementation of Fire Safety management plans and deal with issues which arise

  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management or equivalent qualifications in relevant field
  • Relevant Fire Safety CPD Training
  • Experience and expertise in assisting an organisations evolution through several different phases of Fire Safety implementation
  • Experience in Fire Safety Venue Design, or operational management experience, preferably in a large-scale public facility
  • Extensive experience in the development and implementation of Fire Safety plans, policies, procedures, and systems
  • Extensive experience in the production of Fire Risk Assessments
  • Understanding of contemporary and emerging Fire Safety and risk management issues
  • Successful track record in managing complex and multi-functional operations from inception through to delivery
