Job Description

A Financial Risk & Controls Manager is required by a FTSE 250 business to embed a robust Risk & Control Framework and further develop a risk-awareness culture. The role will also involve implementing a comprehensive Quality Assurance programme to ensure control weaknesses are identified and processes are enhanced as well as designing new processes and controls to achieve efficiencies and mitigate risk through automation. In addition to the excellent salary on offer the role comes with a car / car allowance, up to 20% bonus and benefits.The key responsibilities will include

  • Developing and maintaining the Risk and Controls Matrices (RACM) for Financial Controls for the Group.
  • Designing and implementing an assurance programme as part of the agreed lines of defence model working effectively with the first and third lines of defence.
  • Risk and controls input to business change projects, ensuring that RACM’s and the assurance programme is updated to reflect any resulting changes to the control environment.
  • Proposing and championing best practice appropriate to the Board’s approved risk appetite and agreed risk management framework.
  • Developing a reporting framework and relevant and timely management information for stakeholders with appropriate recommendations and following up accordingly.
  • Tracking and reporting on agreed remedial actions.
  • Preparing reports for Risk and Controls Committee, Audit Committee on the effectiveness and efficiency of the control framework and the progress of projects to improve and automate.
  • Developing communication and training for colleagues as appropriate to their role and responsibilities within the risk and controls framework.
  • Liaising with internal and external audit.
  • You will be a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent) with experience of implementing risk and controls methodologies in large corporates. You will have demonstrable experience of influencing business leadership teams, strategic thinking and prioritisation. You must possess excellent communication skills, being highly articulate, with strong presentation skills and the ability to translate the complex into the simple.
