Job Description

Factory Manager, Engineering£40,000 to £45,000 DOEImmediate start availableFactory ManagerThis SME engineering firm are looking to recruit a General Manager and take full responsibility for the business in Birmingham. This role requires someone who possesses a proven background within manufacturing / engineering. It is an amazing opportunity to forge a strong foothold in the industry.Reporting directly to the MD you will be Managing a team of 30 staff, you will need to lead by example and be the go-to person for all staff, and provide support to the Directors. 25 Days holiday, private medical insurance and parking.Role and Responsibilities:

  • Management of all production staff, comprising circa 26+ staff and 4 department managers
  • Allocating, organising and managing workloads
  • Agreeing a weekly production schedule with the department managers and communicating the consolidated schedule to all interested parties, in particular the Directors
  • Working with the Commercial Director to manage customer expectations
  • Managing KPIs such as waste, etc, with monthly reporting to the Board
  • Directing department managers and suppliers to ensure that planned and arising maintenance is carried out so as to ensure production is kept running
  • Taking responsibility for H&S matters and being a member of the H&S committee
  • Developing and maintaining a constructive relationship with the quality manager to drive continuous improvement
  • Managing HR issues covering recruitment, disciplinaries, appraisals, training, etc
  • Improvement / growth projects (including the procurement of capital equipment)
  • Liaising with the warehouse facility to ensure product is shipped out the door
  • Playing a key part in strategy planning with regards to the growth of the company
  • Creating and maintaining best practice processes
  • Overseeing the Factory and keeping staff motivated and exceeding customer expectations
    • Required experience:
  • A proven General Manager with SME manufacturing development experience of both technical products and operational processes
  • EA track record of delivering profitable growth in a demanding business environment
  • Innovative, with an eye for detail and prudent cost management
  • Good numerical and IT skills, with experience of using integrated business systems
  • A good communicator, with an open and honest management style and a genuine empathy for the long-term goals of the business
  • Ideally immediately available
