Job Description

Data & Integration Engineer - £60K - £70K SQL & Python Birmingham city centre based - Hybrid working. In office 2 days per weekGleeson Recruitment group are pleased to be working with highly awarded, fast-growing health and well being business to recruit a Data & Integration Engineer. This brand new vacancy has opened up due to mass business demand and growth.About the roleThe Data & Integration Engineer role combines excellent technical and programming skills with the ability to communicate across departments and understand business needs.Reporting to the Head of Systems & Architecture you will be involved in a variety of projects ranging from data mining and acquisition through to systems integration. You will take ownership of the organisations data, ensuring that it is efficiently acquiredfrom several SAAS Cloud software systems, stored and organised to serve different business purposes such as analysis by the Data Insights team or fed into other systems for further processing.You will plan, design and implement data warehousing and systems integration projects, including creating documentation for future managers and engineers to address issues. You will engage with stakeholders at all levels of the business to gather requirementsand be capable of translating these into specifications that will inform the design and testing of data systems.You will also take responsibility for ensuring that existing solutions are maintained to a high standard of reliability and availability, documenting appropriately and assisting colleagues in troubleshooting issues.What we need from you:

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Experience with Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • An understanding of working with code repositories such as GitHub.
  • Capable of creating and maintaining reports on a BI platform such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience of working with RESTful APIs & GraphQL.
  • Familiarity with RDSs such as MS SQL Server and Data Warehouses such as Redshift, Snowflake and BigQuery.
  • Familiarity with modern ETL tools and advanced data ingestion techniques.
  • Knowledge of Integration platforms such as Patchworks, Boomi or MuleSoft.
  • A solid understanding of Data Warehousing Design, best practices, common issues and how to solve them.
  • A basic understanding of networking and security protocols and their implications for data acquisition and management.
  • 4+ years of working in a similar role or a software development environment and ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of data structures and modern APIs.
  • Degree level education in a STEM subject.
  • Comfortable working in an Agile environment but also capable of working in classic Waterfall projects.
  • Possesses a breadth of technical understanding but also strong people and communication skills.
  • Commercially savvy, able to balance technically optimal solutions with serving business needs.
  • Diligent and dedicated with great attention to detail.
  • Able to think problems, opportunities and requirements through and then provide informed opinions and recommendations for action.
  • By nature curious; delights in learning and is open to others ideas.
  • In stressful situations is able to break down issues into manageable parts and remain productive and positive.
  • Honest and reflective about own performance, welcomes feedback and able to provide constructive feedback to others.
