Job Description

Data EngineerSalary: £65,000Location: Central Birmingham - 2/3 days a week remote working optionsKey words - Data Engineer / Architecture / Azure / AWS / RDBMS / ETL / SSIS / PYTHON / R / DAX / MDX / SSRS / POWER BI / Data Warehouse For this opportunity you will be reporting to the Head of Data Management, you will be involved in helping to define, build, and maintain a robust data platform and information architecture. You will be joining a team in the early stages of a large digital transformation focused on bringing improvements in data management practices to the organisation.Role

  • Helping with the continued development of the Azure hosted Data platform.
  • Aid the definition of data classifications, data zoning, and data security requirements and solutions
  • Lead and support project teams through the application and usage of data throughout data project lifecycle.
  • Contribution to the design and development of an Enterprise Data Quality framework
  • Design and Architecture of Azure Data solutions using the latest Azure technologies.
  • Make recommendations to the wider business as to how to keep up to date with the best data solutions.
  • Working with external partners for bringing data into the organization.
  • Working in collaboration with data architects for translating functional specifications into technical specifications.
  • Implementing reliable communication and problem-solving skills for addressing support issues.
  • Ensuring compliance with data security best practices and data stewardship standards.
  • Assist with design considerations for both in cloud and on-prem data solutions.
  • Optimizing data pipelines.
    • Experience Required
  • Familiar and demonstrable experience with Cloud database solutions; Azure or AWS
  • Insight into Data Lake architecture, Data Warehousing techniques
  • Demonstrable experience with ETL using on premise tools (SSIS, Talend, Informatica, MuleSoft) and/or cloud integration service capabilities. (Data Factory, Informatica Cloud)
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Azure
  • Data Modelling
  • Designing and implementing information solutions
  • Working on business intelligence and analytical projects
  • Experience and familiarisation with multiple RDBMS platforms, ETL Tools, data migration approaches, and data framework design patterns.
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting language such as; SQL, C#, Powershell, Java, Python, R, DAX, MDX
  • Awareness of Enterprise reporting Interface; SSRS, PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView, Business Objects
  • Strong motivation and coaching skill to guide and support teams throughout a project
  • System integration experience, including interface design, and familiarity with web-oriented architecture techniques
  • Information classification expertise
  • Business acumen and the ability to communicate to executives, business domain stakeholders and technical staff alike
  • Experience with specific industry or business domain
  • Business domain, data/content and process understanding (which are more important than technical skills)
  • Familiarity with data science concepts, as well as MDM, business intelligence, and data warehouse design and implementation techniques
  • Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs
