Job Description

Costs Paralegal, Birmingham This Top 50 law firm is currently looking for a Costs Paralegal to join their team in Birmingham.The team specialises in both Claimant and Defendant costs and have extensive knowledge of all areas and procedures of Costs law. Experience includes a wide range of complex and high value claims, including claims in clinical negligence, catastrophic injury, construction and property litigation and commercial disputes.Within this role, you will deal with Costs Budgets, attending CCMCs, preparing Bills of Costs and dealing with the entire costs of assessment process through to attendance at detailed assessment hearings or mediation/arbitration.You will be responsible for assisting Senior Costs draftsmen with a broad range of costs issues. This role is based in Birmingham but may require some travel between offices.Responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting Part 8 proceedings
  • Drafting Statements of Costs
  • Preparing Bills of Costs
  • Assisting with costs negotiations
  • Provide a comprehensive case progression service including helping to manage litigation timetables and appointments etc.
  • You:
  • Will have an LL.B or equivalent degree
  • Have experience working as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant with experience in Costs
  • Possess excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
