Job Description

Our Client, a well-established Building/ Construction Company based Birmingham are looking for a Contracts Supervisor to join their team due to a sustained growth in business. The role would be suitable for someone who has similar experience and/or experience in an Estimating role with knowledge of the building trade.Competitive starting salary of between £25,000 and £50,000 depending on experience, plus car allowance and bonus. This is an excellent opportunity to advance your career for someone who enjoys working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.The successful candidate will be required to undertake the following duties:-

  • Organisation of labour, plant, materials
  • Subcontract supplier sourcing and planning
  • Material and Plant price negotiation/procurement
  • Site visits/works measures
  • Pre-Start meeting attendance, progress meeting attendance
  • Internal planning and programming
  • Creation of Health and Safety plans
  • Reporting weekly progress - internal and external
  • Attending site for assessment pre quote, presenting information for estimating
  • General client and supply chain liaison
  • Preparation of weekly wages
  • Assessment and implementation of training requirements with admin team
  • Communication skills essential in all areas
  • Site operative management
  • Preparation of pre-estimating budgets from site visits
  • Producing estimates, take-offs & bills of quantities
  • Negotiating of materials pricing & subcontract pricing
  • Read drawings
  • Excel use on a daily basis
  • Please note this role will be split approximately 50/50 between the office just outside of central Birmingham and clients sites which are broadly Midlands based. (You will be required to travel outside of the Midlands on an ad hoc basis if required.)
The ideal candidate will have:-
  • Experience working within a construction/ building environment.
  • Experience in roofing/surfacing/waterproofing (desirable not essential.)
  • CSCS card.
  • Knowledge of construction phase plans and health & safety.
  • Good IT skills.
  • The ability to read drawings.
  • Experience producing quotations and pricing jobs.
  • Strong team work ethic.
  • An ability to work using own initiative.
  • A flexible approach.
  • A hands on approach, with a willingness to complete a wide range of tasks.
  • An ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
