Job Description

Contracts Manager (Construction & Manufacturing)£50,000 - £55,000 + BonusesB24 BirminghamWe EXCLUSIVELY have an exciting opportunity for a Contracts Manager to join a dynamic and innovative team within our globally recognised client.The main focus of your role is to develop client and contractor relationships whilst managing contractual risk on commercial roof and solar projects within UK & Ireland. Your role will involve the development and deployment of commercial roof and solar PV projectsfrom the point of initial feasibility through to successful completion on site - having overall responsibility for the quality of the delivered projects. The role is challenging and involves working closely with the customer, sub-contractors, professional teams and departments within the business with the aim to successfully deliver multiple solar PV renewable projects throughout the UK, Ireland and supportthe wider Group further afield.Your Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make a positive contribution to the Management team to enable product improvement, increased turnover and profitability whilst operating within the budgeted costs.
  • Provide assistance to all other departments using the information available.
  • Ensure that information accuracy and efficient flow to and from departments is monitored and improved
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of client relationships by compliance with their expectations and provision of customer satisfaction.
  • Responsibility for the management of customer complaints and bringing them to an agreed resolution.
  • To generate monthly reports for reporting to the Head of Operations and General Manager.
  • To co-ordinate daily activities with the internal contract staff such that we have visibility of the visits and work undertaken and that this work is organised in such a way as to be effective in achieving the objectives.
  • To ensure that the correct procedures are following when allocating costs and authorising expenditure.
  • To ensure that all correspondence from customers is dealt with in a timely manner.
  • To liaise closely with the internal contracts and customer service teams to ensure all projects are delivered within programme, budget and quality.
  • To work with the internal commercial teams to monitor project cost to recommend ways in which this can be improved.
  • To provide feedback to the commercial teams on the outstanding issues which may affect the customer relationship.
  • To be willing and able to support the commercial teams in understanding and addressing customer concerns.
Your Experience and Skills
  • To be able to communicate effectively at different levels i.e. with architects, building owners, cladders, company directors etc and to act in a professional and experienced manner.
  • Ideally you should have some experience of our industry having worked either in contracting business, preferably roofing and cladding or with a main contractor/subcontractor who has worked with our products.
  • The role involves considerable amount of time away from the office and the person should have good organisational skills and be able to perform effectively on a stand-alone basis. In the same way the hours of work will be dictated by the needs of the job,but this could involve some element of early starts or late nights.
  • Creating multi-portfolio, multi-customer programmes for operational delivery of the projects across UK and Ireland.
  • Ability to liaise with the operations team to complete designs including string designs, ballast calculations, PVSyst reports, Controlling incoming enquiries, sourcing information and distributing accordingly.
  • Establish detailed design standards for our projects and customer requirements.
  • Draft project documentation for distribution to customers. Planning, Building and DNO applications as and when required.
As our successful candidate you will possess the following
  • Degree in Building, Civil or Electrical Engineering required.
  • 3-5 Years experience in a similar Contracts Manager role in the roofing and cladding industry.
  • Very good understanding of CDM2015.
  • SMSTS, IOSH and/or NEBOSH qualification.
  • High standard of understanding of Solar PV and roofing products.
  • Experience of working in construction or similar based industry
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, Autocad as necessary.
  • Ideally previous experience of working in a fast-paced Customer Service/Order Processing type role
  • Salesforce experience advantageous.
