Job Description

RSR Regulatory Services is a market leading recruitment business dedicated to supplying experienced practitioners on a temporary, contractual or permanent basis to the Law Enforcement, Cyber Security, Offender Management and Regulatory Services talent marketsRSR Regulatory are currently recruiting on behalf of our Birmingham based client for a Contract Works Officer (Buildings, Electric and Gas).This role is based in Birmingham and offers a rate of pay up to £19.58 Per hour depending on experienceMain duties and responsibilities

  • Be responsible for day to day contract control and supervision with respect to on site progress, quality of work and materials and building control monitoring of Contractors ensuring that the scheme stays within the financial cost limits and reportingany over/under expenditure. Particular attention will be paid to monitoring customer satisfaction levels and progressing complaints.
  • Regularly prepare and present, as appropriate, reports on the performance of the activities under his/her control.
  • Control and direct in accordance with the Clients policy objectives, the delivery of the housing service within the Area for which he/she has responsibility.
  • Be responsible for the identification and diagnosis of building defects and for the preparation of suitable improvement schemes.
  • Monitor the performance of staff, Contractors, resources and functions under his/her control to ensure effective delivery of the housing service to meet the requirements of all Housing Contracts.
  • Responsible for ensuring Building Regulations, Building Control and Safety Standards/Risk Assessments/CDMs are achieved and maintained.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all work is undertaken in accordance with the Employers Specifications and appropriate audit checks are carried out.
  • Be responsible for the certification of payments at all stages up to and including final certification, the monitoring of expenditure and preparation of reports in respect of potential over/under expenditure.
  • Provide technical advice/guidance/support including work relating to leaseholders.
  • Assist with surveys of the housing stock to appraise the structural condition of property.
  • Responsible for the induction of new starters, identifying, resourcing, meeting, monitoring and evaluating the training needs of all employees in your area of control in line with the objectives of the organisation. This will include acting as a coach,mentor and assessor.
  • Establish and foster links with the community, including client groups, tenants associations, Housing Liaison Boards, Contract Boards and all other groups representing client groups
Person Specification
  • Knowledge of the current Building Regulations.
  • A building qualification or comparable level of technical experience/knowledge relating to property repair and maintenance.
  • Qualification to ONC/B Tech in Building Services or City and Guilds London Institute Advanced Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • An understanding of the Institute of Electrical Engineers Regulations, the Gas Safety (Installation and Use Regulations) and other Engineering Service Regulations.
  • Commitment to the delivery of the highest quality of service with an emphasis on the importance of the customers varied needs.
  • Written communication skills to enable you to write reports and letters.
  • Driving Licence would be an advantage.
