Lead Chemotherapy NurseLocation: The Harborne HospitalHours: 37.5hrs pw Mon-FriSalary: competitive dependent on skills & experience + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development)About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Chemotherapy Nurse to work in a leading organisation in the heart of Birmingham. The Lead Chemotherapy Nurse is responsible for taking the lead for the overall running of the Chemotherapy unit and will be responsiblefor providing clinical direction with strong, visible leadership to all nursing staff, in partnership with allied health professionals and medical staff, acting as a point of contact for advice and expertise on all matters relating to both professional nursingand specific specialty issues.You will lead and drive the delivery of excellent clinical standards within cancer care, driving a culture of patient safety, clinical effectiveness and continuous improvement.Working in line with local and national guidance, you will have the responsibilityensuring all appropriate measures are taken to maintain, promote and safeguard the wellbeing and interests of patients, employees, visitors and the business.The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare UK is a brand new £100million, purpose built 50 bed, multi-speciality private hospital opening in Birmingham in 2023. Located on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus, the hospital will have the deepclinical infrastructure, equipment and facilities and expert, experienced teams to deliver full clinical pathways across a mix of specialties and sub-specialties at all levels of complexity including Cardiology, Cancer and Complex Surgery including roboticswith the latest Da Vinci XI.   • An expert clinical practitioner in chemotherapy, including UKONS SACT passport
  • Previous experience of leading and developing a team
  • Possessing, or working towards, leadership qualifications or Masters degree is highly desirable
  • A strong understanding of clinical governance, quality and risk in regards to patient safety.
  • Demonstrated strong clinical, safety and professional standards within a chemotherapy setting
  • Experience in Quality Improvement, facilitating and managing change in the workplace.
Management and Leadership
  • Lead and empower your teams to deliver outstanding patient care.
  • With high levels of autonomy you will be empowered to work with the hospitals Senior Leadership Team to grow and develop the service.
  • Motivate staff to be committed to achieving delegated work, identified goals and priorities.
  • Monitor achievement of timeframes and priorities for unit based plans both on a daily and longer term basis.
  • Participate in the development and review of policies, processes and procedures.
  • Utilise effective time management skills to achieve personal work priorities.
  • Act as safeguarding representative for the department in the hospital’s safeguarding committee
  • Participate in strategies to monitor and respond to work load issues.
  • Ensure patient safety and outstanding patient experience are delivered throughout the unit, measuring against CQC standards and regulations.
What you’ll bring:
  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Post registration qualification in Cancer/Chemotherapy Nursing
  • UKONS SACT passport
  • Experience in telephone triage and UKONS telephone triage tool
  • Experience within cancer specialty, with significant experience in the outpatient treatment setting.
  • Experienced in managing a department/team
  • Quality Improvement
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Skilled in management of oncological emergencies
  • Skilled in Phlebotomy / Cannulation / Care of CVADs/ IV administration
