Job Description

2395 - Change ManagerYour new roleNational Highways have an exciting new opportunity, to support the Head of Risk and Client Change Management and the Enterprise Intelligence (EI) Director in delivering change management excellence by developing, implementing, and maintaining the programmeschange management approach and strategy. This will ensure effective change management and governance are implemented through standardised processes, tools, documentation, and reporting.We are looking for candidates with strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage relationships with a range of colleagues and stakeholders. The post holder will be required to assess and present data and informationin several different formats and therefore experience in using a range of data analysis tools, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI would be essential.This role would suit someone looking to progress their career in the fields of business change, project controls, data analysis and project governance.What youll be leading on

  • Work with Smart Motorways Alliance (SMA) colleagues to develop and own a programme-level change management plan that delivers effective, best-practice programme change management across SMP.
  • Take the lead in identifying, developing, and driving programme-level Client change management improvement initiatives, presenting to relevant stakeholders to gain buy-in.
  • Take a lead role in working with Major Projects Delivery Transformation (MPDT) colleagues to ensure the MPDT business change programme is appropriately embedded across SMP.
  • Drive cultural change across SMP to promote a change management environment of continuous improvement and positive engagement, encouraging proactive change to enhance productivity and quality, sharing best practices, promoting consistency, and proactivelyinfluencing teams to drive successful outcomes.
  • Work closely with Major Projects colleagues to proactively influence any upstream change instructions to enable effective downstream instruction and implementation.
  • Work with the Head of Risk and Client Change, Assistant Change Manager and Alliance Operations Lead to ensure SMP has a robust Business Continuity Plan (BCP) in place.
  • Ensure that all programme-level change instructions are fully evaluated, impact assessed and documented before being taken to the monthly Programme Committee for approval.
  • Work with SMP Commercial, the Alliance Change Control team and project teams to ensure approved instructions are appropriately disseminated and acted upon. Following on from this, track, record, and report on them post-instruction to ensure compliance.
  • Act as a programme ambassador for Client change management, sharing knowledge and upskilling SMP (CDF and Alliance) colleagues in this area, as appropriate, whilst working alongside MPDS to drive top-down improvements in this area.
To be successful youll need
  1. Extensive experience of working in a complex programme and project environment, preferably infrastructure-related, with a proven track record of delivering results.
  2. Experience of working in large change programmes, specifically embedding change management governance processes, tools, systems, and people capability.
  3. Demonstrable track record of managing relationships with multiple stakeholders and driving cultural change and behaviours to achieve positive outcomes.
  4. Ability to train and coach others to develop and put into practice change management knowledge and skills.
  5. Strong data analytical and reporting skills, especially around ensuring compliance with change management instructions.
