Job Description

An opportunity to join a wholesale distribution business as a Category Buyer working within the Purchasing Department, where you will develop relationships with suppliers and stakeholders alike to effectively manage the purchasing process in line with Categoryplans. You will be working within a supportive environment, committed to your personal growth.Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiation of pricing and lead time with key vendors/factories
  • Raise purchase orders (PO) in line with Company process
  • Establish strong relationships with suppliers, ensure lead times are met and expedite outstanding orders
  • Drive continuous improvement across the purchasing process to improve stock service levels and inventory value metrics
  • Liaise with the sales teams to ensure new contracts and product requirements are forecasted accurately
  • Conduct product research as well as sourcing new supplier and vendors
  • Prepare reports on purchases, cost analysis and sales history
Key skills and experience:
  • Strong understanding of Purchasing principles and processes
  • Industry sector experience related to garments, apparel, PPE preferred
  • Experience with Purchasing systems (preferred)
  • Analytical skills applied within Purchasing and Inventory management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong supplier relationships, preferably with key supplier accounts
  • Sound commercial awareness
  • Experienced with MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Degree/CIPS qualifications desirable
  • 3+ years experience in a purchasing role
