Job Description

CAD/CAM Design Engineer£35,000 basic salary plus benefitsOur client is a long-established engineering company based in Birmingham, with a fabulous heritage spanning over 50 years. Renowned for the exceptional quality of the components they produce, their client base consists of many prestigious names in the fieldof Automotive Manufacturing and other sectors.As part of their ambitious plans moving forward they are now looking to recruit a CAD/CAM Design EngineerKey Tasks:

  • To lead the design process from concept to manufacture
  • Assess the needs of customers
  • Consult with production manager and project manager to assess shop floor needs (Jigs/Fixtures)
  • Communicate designs through conceptual presentations and design reviews
  • Create comprehensive models and fully detailed engineering drawings
  • Design for manufactureadapt customer designs to suit manufacturing processes
  • Development of flat blanks and creation of programs for CNC laser cutting and press brake bending
  • Support, create and maintain CNC programs.
Skill Requirements:
  • 3+ years experience in sheet metal designEssential
  • 3+ years working with 2D and 3D CAD - Essential
  • SolidworksEssential
  • Catia v5Desirable
  • Previous experience of programming CNC laser machinesDesirable
  • Previous experience of programming CNC press brake machinesDesirable
  • Use of Radan programming packagesDesirable
  • Degree or HNC/HND in engineering related disciplineDesirable
