Job Description

BuyerAn established, successful automotive manufacturer is recruiting an experienced Buyer to work from their Aston headquarters. You join the small purchasing team and take responsibility for a selection of suppliers to build strong supplier relationships andnegotiate favorable terms. You will take ownership of the purchasing of a range of components and materials to ensure that production targets are met.The company manufactures parts and components for the construction industry and of industries and has a very strong order book.As the Buyer you will support the Purchasing and Materials Manager:

  • Work with existing supply base across Europe and the Far East to ensure the best possible material supply.
  • Build very strong relationships and where possible deliver more favorable commercial terms.
  • Look at a range of new suppliers to increase the supply base.
  • Work closely with shopfloor functions to enable a smooth flow of materials and production
  • Overall, you will work to improve the purchasing function and ensure it is best in class to enable the production targets to be met on time in full.
To be successful within the role as a Buyer you will have:
  • Previous experience as a Buyer/Senior Buyer within a manufacturing business.
  • Proven negotiation skills and to have an in-depth understanding of commercial terms.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Ideally you will have purchased a range of materials, components, and castings.
  • Worked with a range of MRP/ERP systems.
  • The ability to read/understand technical drawings
