Job Description

Job Title: Bus Service SpecialistSalary range: £36,033 - £40,556 per annum Hours: 36.5 hours per week Contract: PermanentWho we needHigh quality local bus services provide connectivity and access to key services throughout the West Midlands. 260 Million local bus trips are made within the West Midlands, this is 4 out of 5 of all public transport trips. Increasing the number of trips made by local bus is increasingly recognised at a local and national level as one of the keys tools to meet ambitious environmental and modal shift targets.The role will see you working within the TfWM Bus Delivery Team. The successful candidate will have operational and commercial knowledge of the local bus industry and the role that Transport Authorities have in the delivery of bus services. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, experience in contract management and working in partnership with key stakeholders.About the teamThe TfWM Bus Delivery Team procure and manage a portfolio of over 160 subsidised bus contracts across the seven districts in the West Midlands. The bus services contained within these contracts provide vital links for communities in areas where public transport services would not otherwise be provided. Increasingly the management of these contracts is driven by the comprehensive review of service performance data.The team also play a crucial role in partnership work with local bus operators as part of the award winning West Midlands Bus Alliance. The team also manage and maintain bus service registrations, work closely with bus operators and inform and influence commercial decisions and are involved in a number of projects and schemes to improve bus service reliability.Who we are Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) plans, develops and manages an integrated transport system for the West Midlands that is reliable, affordable and accessible for all.
