We are currently recruiting for a Bridge Engineer for our Rail, Bridges and Structures team in our centrally located Birmingham office.Our Birmingham office has an established track record of successfully delivering bridge engineering schemes for more than 30 years throughout the UK as well as supporting other disciplines with our specialist input. Our office has capability in the design andassessment of bridges and other transportation structures for highway and rail schemes and we work closely with other disciplines from the Roads, Geotechnical, Environment, Transport Planning and Development Sectors.The Rail, Bridges and Structures team workload ranges from feasibility studies to scheme designs, detailed designs, assessments, inspections, construction support and management services on a wide range of structures. We are now looking to enhance and growthis team with individuals with a sound technical background and who share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload.A selection of our current and recent projects includes SWTRA (South Wales Trunk Road Agent) AECOM appointed as consultants for SWTRA to provide engineering technical solutions to many aspects of the motorways, trunk roads and associated assets throughout the South Wales region. This framework provides a range ofopportunity from inspection, assessment and design through to technical advisory, strategic asset management and reactive maintenance. Recent schemes include concrete repairs, deck refurbishment, CS470 Management of sub-standard highway structures, BridgeManagement Strategies and other various rehabilitation projects.M54 to M6 Link Road Development - The £200m project will provide a 2.5km link road between Junction 1 of the M54 and Junction 11 of the M6. The AECOM team is currently working on the design of numerous structures including steel composite integral bridges. Civils Assessment Framework Agreement (CAFA)AECOM is appointed across nine rail routes for the framework contract. Birmingham supports various routes in undertaking Level 1 & Level 2 assessments of overbridges, footbridges and underbridges to a multitudeof structural materials including steel, wrought-iron, cast-iron, pre-stressed concrete, masonry arches with structures ageing from 200 years old to modern construction forms. Our works involve: undertaking Inspection for Assessment to determine condition,loading and obtain dimensionality of structures; structural analysis including grillages (Level 1) and Finite Element Analysis (Level 2) and reporting including sensitivity analysis and recommendations for further works.Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in Bridge Engineering and the related application of Eurocodes and National Highways Standards.
  • Experience in computer analysis techniquespreferably in Autodesk Structural Bridge Design and LUSAS or MIDAS.
  • Good technical and communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering to quality, time and budget, with some previous experience of project management.
  • Previous exposure to clients at both national and local level.
  • Ability to manage project Health and Safety responsibilities including compliance with CDM legislation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineering Degree or equivalentApproaching CEng status with the ICE. AECOM will actively support the candidate with obtaining qualification.</s
