Job Description

Your new roleNational Highways are looking to recruit an Audit Manager to join its Internal Audit team. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the planning, delivery and reporting of a number of internal audits and other assurance reviews, andwill be responsible for the management of up to five Senior Auditors.In addition to this you will support the Head of Internal Audit on:

  • the development of the annual assurance plan
  • providing advice and guidance to the business on risk, control and governance
  • producing the annual audit opinion, which supports the annual assurance statement in the annual report and accounts
What youll be leading on
  • Contribute to the development of the annual assurance plan, determining priorities and ensuring enough resources are available to deliver it in a timely and high-quality manner.
  • Support the Head of Internal Audit in development and improvement of internal audit services.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of auditors to ensure planning, delivery and reporting of the assurance programme, in line with quality and professional standards
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with senior clients and stakeholders, built on professional trust.
  • Attend and present at senior meetings as required, presenting key audit findings in a professional manner and being a trusted business advisor.
To be successful
  • Audit, accounting (CMIIA/CCAB) or other equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Experience in the development of audit strategies and plans
  • Ability to manage the delivery of internal audits within an organisation, on time, within budget and to a high quality.
  • Experience in successfully leading and managing the performance of assigned team, setting clear objectives and priorities for individuals.
  • Ability to persuasively present sensitive and complex issues at the highest levels.
