Job Description

Job Title: Associate PractitionerLocation: BirminghamSalary: £23,000 - £25,000 - Dependent on experienceHours: 37.5 hours per weekLength of the contract: PermanentGrafton Recruitment are now seeking to appoint an Associate Practitioner to our Public Sector client based in Birmingham. As an Associate Practitioner, you will deliver gold standard care and assist in the induction, supervision and training of HealthcareSupport Workers and trainee Patient Care Technicians. Its your opportunity to make a real difference to peoples lives every single day.Duties of the Associate Practitioner

  • Provide safe and high-quality care by implementing programmes of care and contribute to care plan modifications.
  • Undertaking risk assessments as directed and within the limits of own knowledge and competence.
  • Undertake specifically identified administrative and clerical tasks associated with patient care which facilitate the smooth running of the virtual ward/department.
  • To communicate in a timely and effectively manner with other team members.
  • Complete documentation accurately and contribute to reports of activity and progress.
  • Maintain and improve the patients mobility using appropriate equipment and handling techniques.
  • Obtain requested routine bloods/investigations; have a basic understanding of normal and altered values, reporting adverse results.
  • Assist with and undertake assessments.
  • Obtain requested specimens and ensure transportation to appropriate department - urine, faeces, sputum, exudates e.g. swabs - nose, eye, wound site, etc.
Experience Required
  • Demonstrate significant experience as a HCSW/RA involved in direct patient care/caring for a group of patients.
  • Hold a Patient Care Technician qualification.
  • Good standard of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information.
  • Able to support and assess other unqualified staff undertaking the care certificate.
  • Ability to work autonomously, within scope of role, and ability to summon help in an emergency.
  • Is computer literate with Microsoft excel, word and power point - Willingness to participate in audit.
  • Able to organise and manage own workload, seeking advice as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates awareness/knowledge of nursing procedures and practices.
