Job Description

Your new roleAs an Assistant Advisor in our Structures, Vehicle Restraint and Lighting team you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Structures Asset Management System and the provision of project management support to both the vehicle restraint andlighting teams. This is a great opportunity to further develop both technical and project management skills across a wide range of assets.Job purposeWorking within the Structures Business Support Team in the management, development and delivery of the Structures Asset Management System.Support the project management of consultancy, research, and development tasks for both vehicle restraints and lighting teams.Contribute to the preparation, review and quality assurance of technical documentation, reporting, presentations, and papers.What youll be leading on

  • Support the Technical Manager in the management (administrative and technical), development and delivery of the Structures Asset Management System and contribute to the resolution of technical / administrative tasks and issues.
  • Provide advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the preparation, review and quality assurance of technical documentation, presentations, and papers.
  • Support the delivery of consultancy, research, and development projects within Vehicle Restraints and Lighting teams.
  • Plan and manage project activities and resources ensuring delivery of objectives to time, quality and cost.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal, external suppliers and contractors.
To be successfulYour previous experience within a project or technical environment where you have supported projects or analyzed and evaluated data and built strong stakeholder relationships will stand you in good stead to develop into the role.Relevant work experience, including evidence of providing advice.An awareness and a basic understanding of the application of standards, policies and principles, such as the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW).Some experience of working with a range of suppliers and stakeholders in the delivery of programme & project objectives & in developing effective long-term working relationships.Experience of applying project management principles.An understanding of National Highways business, organisation structure and the nature of its assetsEssential Functional / Technical Skills

  • HND or HNC in a relevant discipline
  • Understanding of project management principles and methods
