Job Description

Apprentice/Trainee People ManagerTo cover Birmingham and Bristol offices with a minimum of 2 days per week in the officeFlexible/hybrid/home working availableNEW GROUND WON’T BREAK ITSELF.Every day our teams help people across the public sector to do what is right and achieve their goals. The role of an Apprentice/Trainee People Manager within the Public Sector Audit business is critical to the experience our Associates have as they embarkon their Audit careers and is key to retaining our great people. Through your everyday interactions with our Associates you will play a pivotal role in inspiring our people to be their best and creating an inclusive culture. You will work closely with theAssociate Career Coaches and other key internal stakeholders such as Office Training Contacts, Early Careers and Graduate Recruitment.We’re happy to talk flexible working and consider reduced hours and job shares, we’ll support you to balance your work and life.A look into the roleAs an Apprentice/Trainee People Manager within our Public Sector Audit team, you will:Be responsible for providing both support and challenge to Associates to enable them to be their best. This includes;

  • having regular conversations with Associates to understand workload, pressures, wellbeing and feedback
  • proactively managing issues that arise including exam fails, under performance, absence and wellbeing concerns and escalating issues where appropriate
  • leading the local orientation for Associates, providing a first-class introduction to our firm
  • working in close partnership with Associate Career Coaches
  • valuing diversity through everyday inclusion
You will work collaboratively with a variety of internal teams including Central Talent and Capacity Team (CTCT), Early Careers, People Advisory, Business School and Audit Training Leads. You’ll also be an active member of both the local management teamand people manager communityGiven the importance of this role, there will be opportunities for the right person to expand their knowledge and develop their skillset including commercial awareness and contributing to people projects.Knowing you’re right for usJoining us as an Apprentice/Trainee People Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is
  • Experience of mentoring and coaching others
  • Experience of supporting and challenging others to help them reach their full potential
  • You’ll be confident in using Microsoft packages
  • You’ll be passionate about creating the best possible experience for our Associates, Apprentices & Trainees
It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.
  • You’ll have experience in supporting office or firm wide projects or initiatives
  • Experience of wellbeing and support
  • Knowledge of accountancy profession training pathways
  • Stakeholder management and project management skills
  • You’ll have experience of collaborating with a range of teams
