Job Description

JOB TITLE: ANATOMIC PATHOLOGY TECHNICIANLOCATION: BIRMINGHAMFULL TIME WORKING HOURS MONDAY TO FRIDAYONGOING CONTRACTHancoxRead Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Anatomic Pathology Technician to work within the Central Mortuary, providing a comprehensive mortuary service to the Birmingham and Solihull Senior Coroner, and other jurisdictions.Duties of Role

  • Receive and register bodies at the Central Mortuary
  • Enter required information accurately onto the Coroners IT System
  • Facilitate the confirmation of deceased identity.
  • Store bodies in accordance with procedures and HTA requirements
  • Assist during the autopsy process.
  • Take samples as directed by pathologists
  • Carry out the respectful restoration of the deceased after post mortem
  • Deal with telephone and other enquiries relating to the service both from internal and external customers
  • To carry out any other duties commensurate with the post
  • To ensure controlled release, transport, and storage of samples from, to and within the Mortuary
  • To maintain high standards of hygiene within the postmortem suite and body storage areas
  • To comply with all departmental procedures under the HTA system
