Job Description

Infrastructure Manager - Internal Managed Services - West Midlands or Full Remote Working from anywhere within the UK - Salary circa £60,000 - £65,000 Plus Flexible Benefits PackageAs the Infrastructure Manager for this superb international corporate that provides Software Solutions to the Insurance industry, you will be both a "hands-on" Senior Engineer & team manager, leading a small team of Infrastructure Specialists who supportthe business across all IT Infrastructure including Servers, Applications, Databases, Networking & Communications.With the role requiring both good technical skills & understanding (70%) & people leadership/management (30%), the Infrastructure Manager enjoys a broad range of responsibilities within this fast paced environment.With the infrastructure team operating as the internal "Managed Services" function, the Infrastructure Manager ensures all IT Services & Networks are available, technical support is available for troubleshooting issues and all maintenance, upgrades and installationsare planned and executed efficiently.Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading a team of Infrastructure & Technical Specialists
  • Providing technical oversight/guidance and getting hands-on with technical issues, design & architectural decisions, installations or troubleshooting problems.
  • Managing infrastructure projects & providing project management support.
  • Engaging effectively with stakeholders with regards to technical issues or future technology requirements.
  • Monitoring & reviewing infrastructure performance and identifying challenges or bottlenecks across Servers, Applications or Networks.
  • Ensuring internal SLAs are achieved including the availability of Hosted solutions.
  • Scheduling & supervising maintenance or installation work.
  • Managing incidents received by the Service Desk.
  • Managing processes, standards & documentation of the Data Centres.
  • Undertaking risk based audits of current & planned infrastructure & technologies.
  • Developing effective relationships with 3rd Party Suppliers & Vendors.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Previous experience as an Infrastructure Manager or Team Leader within a large or complex corporate environment.
  • A good Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys the challenges of being both hands-on and leading a team.
  • Has good experience of Windows Servers, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VMWare, MS Exchange, Storage solutions, Cloud platforms (AWS is preferred but Azure experience is also beneficial), Citrix is useful to have too.
  • A broad knowledge of Networking such as Cisco Routers, VLANs, Load Balancers, Switches etc.
  • Previous experience within a Managed Service environment would be ideal !
  • A natural self-starter who enjoys making informed decisions and works hard to help their team to continue to learn & grow professionally.
