Job Description

Assistant Accountant£28,606- £33,683Birmingham, B37 7YN (Hybrid)Permanent, Full TimeMonday to Friday, 37 hours per week, hybridOur client areseeking to appoint an Assistant Accountant into their Financial Reporting team. The main purpose of this role will be to support and assist the accountant in the provision of high-quality services to the associations various budget holdersand customers.The team works closely with its budget holders and the successful applicant would be required to assist where necessary to help ensure a good service is provided.In Finance you can make a real difference, the role of Assistant Accountant will include:Assist the Accountant with:

  • Provision of financial advice, assistance and support to budget holders and setting future years budgets in line with the company’s financial plan.
  • Assisting with the preparation and supporting documentation for the monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts.
  • Accounting for fixed assets.
  • Ensuring service charge costs are recorded accurately across schemes.
As an Assistant Accountant, they need you to have:
  • 5 GCSEs Grades A-C (Including Maths and English or equivalent)
  • Part Qualified AAT or equivalent.
  • Experience within an account’s environment providingaccurate, reliable, and timely financial information to Budget Holders.
  • Knowledge of computerised accounting systems.
  • Intermediate level working of Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to manage, organise and prioritise your workload.
  • Ability to problem solve and present solutions to the accountant.
  • Ability to evaluate report results for reasonableness and recognise when further analysis is required.
  • Ability to manipulate and analyse large volumes of financial and performance data.
  • Ability to present and explain the findings of data analysis to the accountant. and/or to non-finance staff in a clear and understandable manner in meetings.
  • Knowledge of Housing Associations.
