Job Description

My client is seeking afull time Mental Health Fee Earner, ideally already Accredited but those actively working towards Accreditation will also be consideredSolicitors are in Birkenhead on the Wirral in Merseyside.This is an opportunity to join an established mental health team with lawyers who specialise in Court of Protection work and all aspects of Mental Health law.Firm holds legal aid contracts for the North, Midlands and Wales and we are committed to providing vulnerable clients and their families with legal aid services and access to justice.You will be joining an experienced, forward-thinking, and friendly team within a supportive working environment.Duties:

  • Managing a caseload of mental health matters.
  • Meet with clients, correspond with professionals and family members, review medical records, carry out advocacy before the First-tier Tribunal (if already Accredited), attend Hospital Managers Hearings and CPA meetings.
  • There will be a need to travel to visit clients in hospital and in the community, subject to Covid-19 restrictions. However, there will still be an element of remote working and flexible arrangements to work from home for the foreseeable future.
Experience:
  • You will be an experienced caseworker and a member of the Law Societys Mental Health Accreditation Panel, or actively working towards this.
  • You will have excellent client care skills, strong written and verbal communication skills as well as experience of working with vulnerable clients.
  • You will also possess a full, clean driving licence and have your own transport.
