Our client is seeking a candidate to work as the Head of their Court of Protection department and join their team in Birkenhead Merseyside on a hybrid basis.The ideal candidate for the Head of Court of Protection will ideally have the below Skills and Experience• Admitted solicitor or legal executive or equivalent.• At least 8 years’ experience of conduct of deputyship files• Good knowledge of law relevant to Deputyship and Court of Protection requirements• Competent in the use of Microsoft word and outlook• Experience of meeting deadlines with a minimum of supervision• Direct contact with clients, face-to-face and over the phone• Ability to provide informal guidance to junior staff as required.• Having conduct of trauma led deputyship cases• Working with electronic case management systems• Working with trade unions• Knowledge of statutory duties relevant to Court of Protection and deputyship filesJob purpose:• To be responsible for the professional lead, legal training, and supervision of the Court of Protection team (professional deputyship and trusteeship) and delivery of a professional service by the teams to external and internal clients. • To achieve required operational, financial and client service performance standards.• To fully contribute to overall successful departmental and firm performance, effective business development and case intake.Key areas of responsibility• To provide leadership to the Court of Protection team to ensure organised, client-focused, cost-effective and efficient service delivery. • Properly recruit, select, train, actively develop, motivate and manage Court of Protection staff to empower them to deliver their accountabilities and achieve their full potential.• Implement and uphold all the firm’s policies and procedures.• Display the knowledge skills and behaviours required by the firm as set out in the Lexcel leadership & management culture statement and key behaviours document.• Deliver effective supervision of best practice and full implementation of case management standards across the Court of Protection team through day-to-day support of staff.• To engage and effectively communicate with staff ensuring a regular review of Court of Protection processes, problem solving and creative thinking.• To manage a personal caseload of professional and lay deputyship clients.• Provide advice regarding the Court of Protection to union clients via the free legal advice service.• Ensuring the Court of Protection staff work with systems and procedures that are Lexcel and Proclaim compliant, including producing and regularly reviewing templates and precedent documents for the department and maintaining good relationships with third-partybrokers.Please Note: Due to the number of applications we receive we may be unable to respond to every application directly.If you have not heard from us within 3 working days, please assume your application has been unsuccessful.Required skills
