Job Description

Want to make a difference in a young persons life Join Salutem in supporting people to live the life they love!Ingfield Manor School is an established special school based in Billingshurst, West Sussex, for students aged 3-19 years with neurological motor impairments such as cerebral palsy and associated sensory and medical needs. Our provision includes day and residentialservices, based in our own idyllic grounds.The school offers extensive specialist facilities with the aim to provide an exceptional learning environment, helping children and young people fulfil their potential. The aim of our services is to provide a safe and stimulating environment for adults, youngpeople and children.The right candidate must have the drive to make a difference for our children and have the ambitionJob Responsibilities:

  • To lead on developing a specialist ASC curriculum that supports academic and social progression for students.
  • Plan, deliver and assess outstanding teaching and learning using proven methods and approaches that enable autistic young people to learn
  • Be a class tutor, ensuring pastoral needs are met and establishing excellent relationships with parents and carers
  • Manage a staff team
  • Inspire trust and confidence in pupils, colleagues, parents and other professionals
  • Build team commitment with colleagues and in the classroom
  • Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school
  • Engage in whole school activities as required by the Principal.
  • Adhere to all working protocols as agreed and published in the School handbook
  • Plan and lead children in off-site enrichment activities
  • Ensure you uphold all safeguarding procedures, including engaging in annual safeguarding training, including induction training
Person Specification (Essential):
  • Proven ability that you are an excellent teacher with a lively and effective classroom teaching style, which engages and motivates young people
  • Previous managerial experience
  • Experience of working with children with SEN, SEMH or ASC
  • A commitment to engaging young people, with a willingness to bring new ideas to the curriculum for both in and out of the classroom
  • An excellent knowledge of the specialist curriculum area and how it may be effectively taught.
  • QTS
Person Specification (Desirable)
  • Familiar with frameworks for monitoring and assessment of social and communication skills for pupils with ASC
  • Experience of working with pupils with sensory processing difficulties and creating programmes to enable these pupils to make progress
