PRINCIPAL CLINICAL, COUNSELLING, FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGIST - BAND 8 - BILLERICAY, ESSEX. - 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm ROLE OVERVIEW: A Principal Clinical, Counselling, Forensic Psychologist is required in Billericay, Essex for the implementation of a pilot Specialist Community Forensic Team. Ensuring equality and diversity values underpin the day to day working of the Practice area. To act as a Principle Psychologist for a new Specialist Community Forensic Team and to support the Head of Secure Service Psychology and the Clinical Director Secure Services, in providing Outpatient Community Care to secure and forensic services. The new pilot will achieve earlier discharge into the community, have specialist support in the community, reduce length of stay within secure services, improve the Service User experience, deliver earlier rehabilitation into the community and deliver optimal healthcare outcomes. The team will cover the geographical footprint of the county of Essex, which will include the unitary authorities of Southend on Sea and Thurrock. Currently there is provision for in-patient forensic mental health service within this area with 117 beds across two sites, in Wickford and Chelmsford. Essex is a large, demographically diverse County and the specialist community forensic service pilot will therefore be required to meet the needs of a diverse population across the county, ensuring that there is equitable provision of and access to the service, regardless of area and in accordance with individual needs of the patient.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS : Doctoral level training in Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic Psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neurophysiology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS HCPC registered, and eligible for registration with a professional clinical body (BPS). Post graduate level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the Clinical or Forensic fields of Psychology. Knowledge of legislation, and its implications in relation to the client group and mental health. Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS and HCPC by completion of CPD log demonstrating a minimum of 40 hours per year. Formal training in Supervision of other Psychologists. Well developed knowledge of theory and practice of highly specialised psychological assessment methodologies and knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc). Knowledge of the professional code of conduct of the BPS.SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE : Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration. Working (assessment and treatment) with a wide variety of client groups, across, genders, the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including difficult to treat groups, such as those with personality disorders or, dual diagnosis, and psychosis.
