Job Description

Graduate Environmental AssistantJoin us, we’re an Investors in People Gold Standard Company.We have a brand new opportunity for an outstanding Environmental Graduate with a genuine passion for sustainability and the environment. As part of the Ground Control HSQE team, you will be responsible for assisting the delivery of our core purpose of Caring for our Environment. You will be working with our Environment Lead (EL) to implement our Environmental Strategy and maintain our compliance in line with company procedures and legislative requirements.You will be fully supported by the HSQE Director and will develop Environmental and sustainability competencies along with the opportunity undertake management training in line with the HSQE succession plan.As part of the programme you will receive an individual development plan that is based on your current skills, ambition and future organisational needs giving you the opportunity to shape your career. You will receive extensive on the job training from our experienced team.Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

  • Assisting with delivery of the Ground Control Environmental Strategy as well as the implementation of our Environmental Policy including a sustainability agenda relating to all divisions
  • Helping to identify and develop energy efficiency opportunities and work with colleagues to achieve them
  • Assisting with the delivery of presentations, arrange workshops and awareness campaigns to promote environmental issues to all stakeholders throughout the business
  • Undertaking environmental audits and inspections in line with the group audit schedule
  • Collecting and presenting data for Environmental Statistics e.g. Carbon Data
  • Supporting and leading environmental and sustainability training sessions and meetings where appropriate
  • Assisting with implementing and monitoring Ground Controls waste management strategy
  • Working with the HSQE team with the organising events, e.g. world carbon day, earth day, world environment day etc.
  • Assisting the BD team with entries for environmental awards on, with the aim to promote good practice to wider community and help raise Ground Controls profile
  • Supporting Quality Manager on production of Environmental Management System documentation.

Together, we’re stronger.Who are we looking forThis role is perfect for an exceptional graduate with an Environment or Environmental Science related degree. Through your studies and personal interests, you will have a good knowledge of sustainability and environmental issues, including energy efficiency and waste management as well as an awareness of environment-related legislation. Any work experience paid or unpaid within this area would be an advantage but is not essential.We are looking to recruit an A’ player, who is passionate about growing their long-term career with us.   • Strong IT Competency (including all Microsoft packages)
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal, confident on the phone with an ability to deal with Clients
