Job Description

Preconstruction ManagerNorth EastCompetitive SalaryThis is a fantastic opportunity to work for one of the London Stock Exchange Group’s Top 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain 2020. Our clients are a leading installer of conservatories, orangeries, double glazing windows and doors throughout the North East.We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Preconstruction Manager. You will be responsible for and the lead person for all preconstruction activities, including preliminary budgets and preconstruction schedules. You will ensure the conducting of technical surveys for Pennine Home Improvements conservatory and extension projects. You will ensure the production of robust and creative final designs and plans for customers.Strong technical knowledge of the window and conservatory industry is a must. You will have excellent problem solving and planning skills, with the drive to "make it happen".You will have excellent people skills, a positive "can do" attitude, a passion to meet deadlines, with attention to detail.You will need a positive outlook, be motivated to achieve, enthusiastic and driven to deliver an excellent customer experience.Role and responsibilities:

  • Take the lead and manage the project pipeline from survey through to programmed work;
  • Manage surveyors and the survey admin team, ensuring work is progressed through the pipeline in a speedy and efficient manner;
  • To mitigate any preconstruction issues, ensuring early awareness and corrective procedures;
  • Responsible for the accuracy of estimates;
  • Provide the lead in the monitor, review and reporting of workstream pipeline whilst ensuring robust design and construction programming of activities, optimising team outputs to achieve early client approval;
  • Review of drawings and specifications and other documents making the project team aware of construction related problems and potential risks;
  • Participate in the preparation of the construction schedule and resourcing requirements;
  • To monitor and review the workload of individual teams and assist in providing a robust challenge to contractor / partner delivery programmes;
  • To clearly communicate to the customer, the purpose of the preconstruction visits;
  • To provide information, advice and guidance to all customers regarding the optimum solution to their needs and suggesting improvements to the design where necessary;
  • To be fully aware of all relevant Building Regulations for small scale projects and ensure that all planning applications are made in a timely and efficient manner in order to progress the project on behalf of the customer;
  • To ensure that all surveys are returned fully completed, accurate and clear ensuring that quality targets and individual customer experience targets are met.
  • Person Attributes
  • You will have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • With proven and relevant construction industry experience with broad demonstrable knowledge of construction practices;
  • Demonstrable experience of programme/project controls including forecasting and risk mitigation to achieve positive outcomes;
  • Be experienced in producing complete working designs in CAD
  • Be able to work independently ensuring all work deadlines are met;
  • You will have strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • A real commitment to team working and excellent interpersonal skills;
  • High levels of motivation and commitment to improve services and outcomes for customers and clients;
  • Great organisational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time,
  • Strong administrative skills with the ability to complete plans and technical specifications to a high standard;
  • Excellent ICT skills;
  • A full clean driving licence.
