Job Description

Join us as a Property Commercial Manager

  • Were looking for someone to support the delivery of property projects, commercial procedures, and standards to support sound decision making
  • As a capital projects cost and construction cost expert, youll provide fast, effective, and reliable cost advice for all property project activities, using the latest MI and project cost data
  • This is a great opportunity to develop a wide network and good relationships across the bank, while making sure theres data consistency across all of our commercial reporting
  • Applications from other UK locations can be considered
What youll doWell expect you to deliver end-to-end cost management on projects, from inception through to financial completion. Youll provide a systemised value engineering process across projects to challenge construction specification levels, design and detailing tofind the best value for our bank. Youll make sure each project instruction is affordable and meets business requirements. Through engaging with wider property stakeholders, youll help develop cost estimates, analysing each proposal before submission to assure we have found the best valuesolution. Youll also be:
  • Supporting project financial close-down and post completion final account evaluations to ensure accuracy
  • Continually seeking supplier relationship commercial opportunities while providing management and validation of benefits tracking
  • Monitoring and identifying gaps in supplier performance and identifying corrective actions
  • Promoting commercial awareness within the property teams and with other key stakeholders while delivering relevant training
  • Managing external cost managers to improve internal data while obtaining and interpreting benchmarking information
The skills youll needWell look to you to bring experience of managing projects independently within a discipline or in the service area of construction or project management. In addition, youll hold a degree in quantity surveying, or in a relevant subject, and hold a professional qualification, such as a MRICS, or be working towards one within the next 12 months. Youll also need:
  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a PQS, consultancy or client-side environment
  • Recent experience of both pre- and post-contract activities, from carrying out feasibility works to detailed cost planning and post contract cost management
  • Knowledge of industry property or construction and market costs, financial matters, and construction taxation
  • Good interpersonal skills with a proven track record in building and developing great professional relationships with stakeholders
