Job Description

Platform/ DevOps EngineerFull time employment Belfast (with opportunity for UK travel)A Global consultancy firm requires an innovative and methodical Platform Engineer to work in Defence and Security, within their Analytics, Insight & Data team. This diverse team will provide support to their clients through implementing strategies, outcomesand transitions, often on an international scale.This colossal consultancy corporation makes intelligent decisions based on the trajectory of technology, creating data-driven programmes that transform their targeted organisations. This is founded with expertise, passion and professional rapport withinthe industry leading team, constantly supporting the personal growth of each active member. As a Platform Engineer you will be required to:

  • You love technology and have a curiosity for fixing things. You like to know how a solution works and have a natural inquisitiveness to make things better
  • You will be responsible for building, improving and maintaining large cloud native solutions on some of the largest programmes
  • You are a Do-er and you want to get stuck in, you may write tooling applications, pipelines, infrastructure code to achieve your task
  • You have a desire to learn, challenge and discover new technology and ways of delivering software solutions.
  • You can contribute to an Agile delivery team bringing an angle of the DevOps culture to your team and with a slant toward infrastructure and platforms.
  • You can work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
As a Platform Engineer you will need experience with:
  • You have competency in at least one programming language (Javascript, Go, Python, Java, Rust, Kotlin)
  • You have basic knowledge of container technology
  • You have an appreciation of what DevOps Engineering is, its concepts and best practices and how it applies to Cloud platforms delivery
  • You understand the stages involved in a CI/CD pipeline
  • You understand the basics of cloud computing and the value it provides
  • Could you use an Infrastructure as Code tool to deploy a simple resource into the cloud (for example an EC2 instance on AWS)
  • You use Infrastructure as Code as your default approach to delivering infrastructure (for example Terraform, Cloud Formation, Pulumi, AWS CDK etc)
  • You understand the basics of how an operating system works (for example Linux, Unix or Windows)
  • You understand the fundamentals of observability
  • You have some experience of database technologies
As a Platform Engineer you will receive:
  • Base Salary: Max £51,000
  • Annual flex bonuses
