Job Description

Cranleigh STEM is seeking a highly skilled materials chemist to join an innovative nanotech business on a full-time, permanent basis.Our client is at the forefront of carbon capture research, focusing on the development of novel porous liquids for direct air capture.We are looking for a motivated individual with a masters or PhD degree in chemistry or a closely related discipline to play a pivotal role in the companys growth plans.Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry our R&D activities on materials for carbon capture.
  • Design, develop and optimise porous liquids through analysis and experimentation of chemical and physical properties.
  • Use techniques including BET analysis, PXRD, SEM and gas uptake measurement to assess material performance.
  • Prepare and present reports for internal distribution and external stakeholders.
Key Requirements:
  • Hold a masters or PhD in chemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience in materials chemistry, particularly in porous materials such as zeolites or MOFs, or in the field of carbon capture.
  • Possess a solid foundation in advanced materials synthesis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
  • Critical thinking, initiative, and excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
