We will not rest until people with dementia and their carers live more fulfilled and less fearful lives, free from stigma and inequality.What we doWe support people affected by dementia through some of the hardest and most frightening times, to improve their lives and help to avoid crisis.No matter whoever you are, whatever youre going through, you can turn to Alzheimers Society/us for expert support through practical advice, emotional support, and guidance for the best next stepWe join forces with people affected by dementia, leading scientists and policy makers, amplifying voices to push for cutting edge breakthroughs and societal change thatll improve the lives of people affected by dementia, now and in the futureHow we do itWere the friendly face of support, the warm voice at the end of the phone and the determined minds who will fight passionately for the cause of everyone affected by dementiaAbout the roleAs a Legacy Giving Officer (internal job title), you will be promoting Gifts in Wills to our supporters and staff right across Northern Ireland.Legacy fundraising is a growth area within the fundraising sector and is being recognised as a top priority at Alzheimers Society - having been absolutely critical for the charity to continue our work through the pandemic.Your role will include (but is not limited to):

  • Being responsible for the organisation and delivery of a series of events.
  • Becoming the go to contact for all legacy enquiries in your region, inspiring them to leave a gift in their Will.
  • Promoting our offers to individual supporters.
  • Developing and implementing new regional opportunities to promote legacy giving.
  • Providing legacy fundraising awareness training to colleagues, volunteers and external partners.
  • Playing a vital part in helping to support our wider fundraising plans.
  • Participating in and collaborating on additional supporter focussed activities.
  • Gifts in Wills already fund over 25% of our work - and our programme is growing, with buy in at the highest levels of leadership and across the organisation.
This is our time to make a significant impact to the outlook for people affected by dementia, and Gifts in Wills play a big role in delivering this change. are you joining our teamAbout youYou will join our ambitious and supportive team of Legacy fundraisers and work closely alongside other Regional fundraising colleagues to ensure our supporters are aware of legacy giving and the impact it has on our work. You will be:
  • Experienced in fundraising or sales and motivated by an excellent cause.
  • Eager for an opportunity for you to expand your experience and develop in fundraising.
  • An outstanding relationship builder and negotiator.
  • Experienced in regularly exceeding targets.
Person Specification
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written [essential]
  • Strong interpersonal and interpretation skills will allow you to have open jargon-free conversations with the business.
  • Be ambitious, target-driven & will relish the opportunity to bring real growth to the programme.
  • Excellent organisational and timekeeping skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Be an innovative thinker and incredibly motivated.
