Job Description

Job title: Interim Financial ControllerPackage: £60k+ (FTE)Location: North BathReporting to: Director of Finance and OperationsJob type: Full Time/Part Time 12 month contract (minimum 4 days a week)Our ClientOur client is a charitable foundation based in North Bath.They are looking to recruit an Interim Financial Controller to cover maternity leave.The successful candidate will be motivated and diligent with a clear record of delivering accurate finances, preferably in the charity sector. You will be joining a small, dedicated team to provide finance support across the organisation.Our client is an equal opportunities employer, so if you’re just returning to work or need to work flexibly then we’d like to hear from you.Interim Financial Controller - The RoleAs Interim Financial Controller you will be responsible for the day to day financial management of the Foundation’s operations.Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and lead a small team;
  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts pack and quarterly reports with variance analysis and commentary;
  • Preparation and monitoring of the annual budget;
  • Assisting with cash flow forecasting;
  • Preparation of quarterly VAT returns;
  • Monthly control account reconciliations;
  • Preparing prepayments and accruals on a timely basis;
  • Manage the bank accounts and complete a monthly bank reconciliation;
  • Manage the AR and AP function;
  • Oversee payroll;
  • Prepare statutory accounts, manage the year end process and liaise with the external auditors;
  • Assisting with various aspects of governance and administration relating to the accounts.
The Successful ApplicantAs Interim Financial Controller you will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) who has experience of working in a similar role.Ideally you will demonstrate:
  • A motivated and diligent approach;
  • Charity experience desirable;
  • An ability to analyse and interrogate financial information;
  • Strong Excel skills;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently with a proactive mindset.
