Job Description

Job Title - Embedded Software EngineerSalary - £55,000 - £65,000Location - BathJob Type - PermanentPurpose of Role: Primary focus for AIS (Automatic Identification Systems) software development team is on the implementation of embedded software for AIS transceiver applications using in-house designed hardware platforms.This is a significant opportunity to be a part of an established, global market leading business and have a positive impact in your area of work.Department Overview: The product team you would be joining develop hardware and software for AIS products for leisure, commercial and maritime authority markets.Skills/Experience & Qualities:

  • A software engineer with a breadth of experience and a passion for high-quality reliable software.
  • Ability to work independently and within an established team.
  • Able to bring additional expertise and skills in specific development areas.
  • Ideally 10+years relevant experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Energy and drivability to self-motivate and see projects through to completion.
  • Confident, proactive, adaptable, and ready to take on the challenges of a highly competitive and successful brand.
  • Self-starter with a professional working attitude.
Required skills:
  • C++ on embedded microcontrollers
  • Software development using real-time operating systems
  • Networking protocols - HTTP, REST, API with JSON, Websockets, mDNS/DNS-SD and usage of Wireshark
  • Understanding of electronics systems
Desired skills:
  • Familiarity with microcontroller peripherals and systems: UARTs, ADCs, SPI, DMA, JTAG, use of GDB
  • Marine communications protocols: NMEA0183, NMEA2000, IEC61162
  • Digital Signal Processing
  • Connectivity using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi
  • Continuous Integration (Jenkins/Hudson);
  • Robot Framework
  • Python Development
  • Embedded Linux development
  • Static analysis (QAC++)
  • Unit and integration testing (Google test)
  • Revision control systems; git, subversion
  • Atlassian tools - JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket
  • Cross platform (Windows, macOS) development using Qt
  • ARM Cortex M4/M7
  • Espressif ESP32 and ESP-IDF
