Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Chef to join our team.Job Title: ChefLocation: Abbey Green, Bath. BA1 1NNSalary: 25k per year depending on experience + Benefits (Listed below)Hours: Full Time: 35-40 Hours (over 5/6 Days)

  • Shifts are daytime only; either 8am-3pm or 8am-4pm, no splits.
  • Weekend and school holiday availability is a must.
what youll do:
  • Depending on the shift you work, you may start as early as 7.30 am (usually 8 am) or finish by close.
  • Youll prepare, cook + present dishes, following the recipes + specifications and as requested
  • Youll use fresh ingredients to cook these dishes keeping in mind costs and wastage alongside quality.
  • Your daily schedule will be set each evening with your line manager. Tasks may be given to you daily and will be done daily as instructed.
  • Youll manage your cook area, ensuring youre set up and ready for service + keeping it clean throughout your shift and at all times. You will be expected to wash up any utensils and equipment you use or that others have used in the course of their job.Waste disposal and hygiene is essential and your responsibility.
  • Youll keep our kitchen clean, safe + up to a high standard by following our health + safety procedures and cleaning practices. You will keep the fridge/freezers, utensils, crockery and store stock cupboards tidy and organised according to EHO and theguidelines.
  • Youll work as a team with the other cooks and front of house staff + support at all times
  • You will leave the kitchen ready to start for any team member to follow in on days off/holidays etc.. e.g. stock/prep
  • Youll communicate with all members of the team
  • Youll discuss the stock you need at the end of each shift with your line manager, and you will control all the stock/ingredients that you need through planning.
  • It is your responsibility to check and know what you need in order to carry out your daily tasks and communicate this with your line manager (Maddy) at all times.
  • Youll share any ideas and improvements bearing in mind the goals and style of the company.
  • You will be self-managing in terms of tasks e.g. if there are no quiche bases, this should be planned into the daily task sheet.
  • Develop dishes and food ideas to keep our business fresh and up to date
  • Keep abreast of all legislation and traits.
  • Youll be tidy, and professional and dressed appropriately for work wearing aprons provided.

The role:
  • Prepping fresh items for a full-on breakfast/brunch service.
  • Preparing and cooking ingredients for all foods offered in the cafes and developing new dishes accordingly
  • Cooking and plating brunches with an eye for detail and consistency and in line with the specifications.
  • Communicating clearly with your kitchen and FOH team-mates to ensure a smooth and speedy service.
  • Running the pass and communicating clearly with a large front of house team.
  • Keeping your area clean and organised, as well as helping to ensure the kitchen as a whole is kept clean and tidy.
  • As this caf is featured in a huge Netflix Production, a passion for this and the inevitable tourist attraction it brings.
What youll be:
  • Hard working.

  • Able to keep a cool head under pressure.
  • Food Training and Qualification essential and a requirement
  • Experience in breakfast service is advantageous but not essential and a minimum of 2 years working in a food environment.
