Job Description

Do you want to work in a fast paced, exciting industryWe are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Systems Test Engineer to join our client in Basingstoke.The RoleOur client designs, manufactures, installs and maintains a range of high-tech bespoke industrial equipment, largely made up of a range satellite communication ground stations.As Systems Test Engineer, you will contribute to the overall system design and perform validation and test of our client’s ground stations across the world.You will:

  • Report to the Head of Service & Delivery, as a senior member of the team delivering timely and accurate engineering support and test documentation
  • Perform test and commissioning at a system level
  • Perform assembly and system level testing on satellite ground stations and related RF products from the Basingstoke factory
  • Lead the engagement with customer engineers and managers, develop good working relationships and ensure milestone sign-off is achieved
  • Assist with the manufacture and test of components, providing technical support to production during manufacture of new product
  • Work with and co-ordinate other departments as needed to resolve issues discovered during testing
  • Be part of the process to develop and improve test documentation and records
  • Support the email and telephone customer helpdesk (normal working hours)
  • Support other project activities as required such as internal and external design reviews and technical meetings
    • About YouTo be successful in your application, you will need to have or be:
  • HNC/HND or degree qualified in Electrical or RF Engineering or similar field, or equivalent industry experience
  • Ideally have broad experience in modular electronic systems (automation, robotics, CNC machinery, military navigation aids) and be experience in working with and maintaining motion-controlled equipment
  • Able to specify RF equipment such as LNAs, frequency converters, power amplifiers, couplers etc
  • Knowledge of operation of RF test equipment such as Spectrum Analysers, VNAs, power meters etc
  • Understanding of RF levels, gains, losses and the ability to perform cascade analyses and level budgets
  • A practical mindset that can be applied to technical problem solving, understanding and characterising RF equipment and troubleshooting
  • Able to perform mechanical assembly in the field
  • Must be able to read engineering drawings
  • An understanding and strong ability to operate and configure IT equipment and software
  • Basic software knowledge and coding skills
  • Experience and a genuine passion for a job within the field of RF, space and satellite communications
