Job Description

The CompanyMarket leading international technology business is seeking to recruit an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join an expanding IT Platform team, as part of their wider global IT Infrastructure team. The business operates across the globe, developing marketingleading products, serving international governments, for which their customer support and IT operations are critical.Applicants need to be able to secure security clearance and therefore need to be able to evidence their work and residency status for the last 5 years.The RoleAs part of an Infrastructure and Data Services team providing the fabric on which industry leading IT solutions are built, you will supportan estate comprising, Windows, Linux, VMware/VxRail), Dell and NPE Nimble storage, M365 and Azure cloud.You will workwith other members of the Infrastructure Team, IT Support Teams, Software Delivery and Test teams to research, determine the scope and complexity of issues and to identify steps to resolve them. You will also:

  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
  • Identify areas where standards can be developed and processes improved, and work with your team to implement those improvements
  • Be flexible on working patterns to fulfil business need, and be willing to join an on-call rota for both internal and external customer critical systems
  • Willing to occasionally travel, sometimes internationally, when required
Specifically, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing technical expertise as required to the Platforms Team Lead and input on technical projects
  • Day-to-day monitoring of platforms to ensure all systems are available
  • Responding within SLAs to service requests, incidents and problems using the service management tool
  • Raising requests for change, documenting step by step activities required for successful completion, testing and if necessary, roll-back of changes
  • Working within an ITIL framework to manage incidents, problems and system changes
You must be able to work under pressure and focus on resolving business critical issues, and deliver to strict deadlinesThe RequirementsWith demonstrable experience in 3rd line IT support gained within an enterprise scale business, you will possess the ability to analyse, diagnose and fix problems and then works to find the root cause. With an enquiring approach to work, a methodical approachto solving problems and an attention to detail, you will be driven to be right first time when it matters. Specifically you will have experience of:
  • Either Linux or Windows platforms, but with drive to learn more about the other
  • Virtualization technologies (ideally VMware/VxRail)
  • Storage Arrays (ideally Dell Compellent and HPE Nimble)
  • Patch Management Software (ideally Ivanti or SCCM)
  • Backup concepts and Software
  • Dell and HP Server Hardware
  • Shell and PowerShell scripting
  • Endpoint Protection and Anti-Virus management (ideally SentinelOne)
  • Working in an ITIL environment, ideally possessingan ITIL Foundation qualification
Cloud experience, ideally with Azure, will be beneficial though not essential.In addition you will have an understanding of information security and theprinciples of business continuity and disaster recovery
