Job Description

Were led by our values and driven by a strong social purpose, placing our residents at the heart of everythingwe do.Were looking for an experienced Head of Quality Management and Assurance to join our Construction and Technical team at Sovereign. This is brand new strategic role in support of our ambitious Development strategy to deliver 2400 new-build homes annually across S106, Land-Led, Regeneration and Joint Venture opportunities,to exacting technical and energy performance standards as we proceed towards a net-zero future.What youll be doingReporting into the Construction and Technical Director and in support of delivering our new Sovereign house type and apartment portfolio, youll be the strategic lead on creating and implementing a new sector-leading Sovereign Quality Standard to facilitate high-quality cost-effective design, procurement and build outcomes. This will enable us to deliver improved efficiencies, a reduction in latent defects and avoidable costs-with the ultimate objectiveto deliver high customer satisfaction.Responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and implementing a new Sovereign Quality Standard and Quality Manual which will accompany our new Homes and Place standard, ensuring that quality is embedded into the design, build and delivery of our new homes and places
  • Leading a team of regionally-based Technical Advisors ensuring the required management processes, quality standards and KPIs are consistent and effective, whilst ensuring focus on personal professional learning and development of the team
  • Working alongside our Health and Safety team, identifying any health and safety issues for the business and ensuring ongoing health and safety compliance in relation to the design and build quality of homes and places
  • Working with Sovereigns supply chain and consultants to establish causation behind any issues, developing action plans to raise standards, improve quality and reduce avoidable costs
  • Developing and implementing raising standards campaigns including the root cause analysis of any failures on a macro and micro level. Preparing and delivering practical and engaging presentations and leading problem solving workshops and / or CPDsfor colleagues
What we need from youYou should have previous experience of managing a strategic Quality Management Assurance function for residential housebuilders, developers, contractors or other warranty provider. Ideally youll also hold a relevant technical qualification and charteredmembership of a relevant professional body.Were looking for someone who:
  • Has strong understanding of design and construction processes on a variety of land sites (greenfield, brownfield) and building types, including low-rise housing and medium-rise apartments with the ability to read and inform construction drawings from aquality viewpoint
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of both traditional construction and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) as well as incorporating renewable energy systems and delivery of net zero construction specifications
  • Holds strong technical assurance experience in Building Regulations, NHBC / Premier Technical Standards and Building Warranty as well as fire safety and technical compliance, and keeps up to date with the ever-changing statutory compliance landscape
  • Holds widespread warranty and insurance compliance knowledge
  • Is an effective communicator, delivering often complex technical information clearly and concisely through presentations, workshops or in writing
  • Builds effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders with the ability to influence
  • Is experienced in managing, motivating and inspiring a technical team of forward-looking people to deliver strategically important initiatives and services
Were all working from home at the moment, however with offices in Basingstoke, Christchurch and Bristol we can be flexible on your base location when we do start to safely return to the workplace. Travel will be required between our offices and sites soyou should be comfortable with this and have access to your own transport.Its a fantastic time to join us at Sovereign.
