Job Description

What we do makes a real difference to peoples lives and by joining us you can share the satisfaction of doing something that really matters.We have an exciting opportunity to join our Development Finance team as Head of Investment Finance Projects - Investment and Commercial. This is a newly created post, designed to lead on providing robust financial modelling, commercial support and life-cycleanalysis and oversight for major capital investment projects at Sovereign.Youll support the Groups growth objectives, providing expertise and strong leadership to a specialist Finance team to provide financial modelling, structuring, risk management and commercial advice around major capital investment projects such as land-led developments, joint ventures, strategic asset management and acquisition and divestment opportunities.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Investment Finance Projects team to provide high quality support and commercial advice, becoming a trusted partner to the Development and Commercial Senior Leadership Team
  • Producing robust models, analysis and advice on the financial implications of major projects, providing insightful commentary for the Group Investment Committee and Group Board, focusing on deal structure, tax implications, investment risks and key return measures such as residual site value, profit margin, peak debt, ROCE, IRR and NPV.
  • Leading on the design and delivery of sensitivity and scenarioanalysis on major projects and assessment of the viability of potential exit strategies.
  • Overseeing the production of regular reporting on Sovereigns major projects for directors, Board and third-party stakeholders.
  • Ensuring timely, clear and accurate development cash flow information is reported to inform Treasury planning
    • You must be a fully qualified accountant with real estate or property development experience. Youll need to have strong IT skills including advanced Excel financial modelling expertise and ideally be a highly skilled user of real estate appraisal software such as Proval, Pamwin, Sequel, Landval or Argus. You should have a strong analytical mind with a high attention to detail to ensure your data, insight and recommendations are accurate and reliable. You will also have experience of working in a fast moving environment, being confident in responding to changing requirements and showing flexibility in your approach to work.Experience in managing, motivating and developing a team is important to this role, with a focus on delivering exceptional service to the business. Youll be confidentcommunicator with a flair for producing insightful, succinct commentary for senior stakeholders.With offices in Newbury, Basingstoke, Christchurch and Bristol, we can be flexible on your base location. There will be frequent travel required between our offices and sites so you should be happy to do this and have access to your own transport with a full driving licence. Required skills
